The Fairview Programs & Services Fair is Wed, Sept 8th at the E.E. Oliver Gym from 5-8pm. Find out what’s happening in Fairview and sign up for activities in your community!
 
Duplicate Bridge begins on Thursday, Sep 9th at the Golden Age Centre. They meet every Thursday at 7pm and are looking for players of all ages. Call Doreen at 780-532-3129 for more info.
 
The Town of Spirit River Council is holding an Open House Thursday, Sep 9th at the Centennial Hall from 6:30 to 8:30pm. This is a discussion and info session regarding local improvement levies. Everyone is welcome.

The Big Country GP Storm Home Opener Tail Gate Party is Friday, Sep 10th in the Crystal Centre Parking Lot from 5-7pm. A donation of $1.50 gets you a chili dog and a pop. All money raised will be donated to PARDS! Come say Hi to the Big Country Crew, Meet the Storm Players and win prizes! And don’t forget to watch for the Big Country Prize Toss during intermission at the game!

There's a Free BBQ at the Muskoseepi Park Pavilion on Friday, Sep 10th from 5-8pm. Come out and meet your local aldermanic candidate Kevin McLean!

The GP Roller Derby Association’s Fresh Meat girls will be in Full Derby Gear selling BBQ Pulled Pork with beans and a pop for $5! Join them at the Great Northern Casino on Friday, Sept 10th from 4-8pm. There’s lots of prizes to be won!

 
The Annual Driver Appreciation BBQ is Friday, Sep 10th at the Demmitt Vehicle Inspection Station from 10-2pm. All drivers are encouraged to stop in and join them for lunch. They’ll be serving up burgers and smokies along with salads and drinks. If you’re a professional driver, stop in and take a well deserved break!

Zumba instructors from the Peace Region are coming together for Zumba Party for a Cure. This Latin inspired, easy-to-follow, fitness dance is safe for all ages & fitness levels. Join them Saturday, Sep 11th at the GP Comp High School. Doors open at 1:30pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $25 at the door. All proceeds support the Canadian Cancer Society. The Superwalk for Parkinsons Research is Saturday, Sept 11th at Muskoseepi Park. Registration is at 11:30am and the walk begins at 1pm. Walk, run, bike or wheelchair for 1, 3 or 5 km. Pledge forms are available online at www.superwalk.com.
 
There’s a Fundraising BBQ in front of Shepherd’s Fold downtown on Saturday, Sep 11th starting at 11am. Money raised will be donated to the Red Cross to help aid Pakistan. The government is matching donations until Sept 12th. 
 
Mountainside Horse Club is hosting Gymkhana Fundays on Sep 11 & 12th at the Beaverlodge Arena. Registration is from 8-10am on Saturday. All ages and riding abilities are welcome. Contact Shelby at 780-831-7932 for more info.

If you love travel adventures, or are a motorcycle enthusiast, you will enjoy this lively presentation and reading by the award winning author of Riding with Rilke: Reflections on Motorcycles and Books.

Celebrate Alberta Arts Days with Prairie Tales 12. These are some of the best short films made in Alberta, featuring 14 short works in all genres. Eric Becker, producer of one of the featured films, will introduce the Sunday screening and speak after the film. Show times are Friday, Sept 17 at 10am and 3pm, Saturday, Sept 18 at 10am and Sunday, Sept 19 at 1pm all in the Rotary Community Room at the Montrose Cultural Centre.

In celebration of CBC’s Sports Day in Canada the Peace Wapiti Speed Skating Club is holding a Free on-ice session at the Coca-Cola Centre on Saturday, Sep 18th. "Inspire" the 8th Annual Community Foundation Gala Evening & Auction is Saturday, Sept 18th at the TEC Centre in Evergreen Park. The 30th Annual Terry Fox Run is at Muskoseepi Park on Sunday, Sept 19th. Inspired by Terry’s dream, the Terry Fox run is volunteer driven. There is no entry fee and no minimum pledge to participate. Anyone who wishes to participate can come out and walk, run or ride 10 km. Registration is at 10am at the Pavilion, with the run starting at noon. You can also register online at www.terryfox.org. If you have children between the ages of 1 and 5 who love to explore bring them to Muskoseepi Park for their Fall Nature Programs. Artist's North presents the 3rd Annual Painting for Parkinson's Show & Sale Sept 25 & 26th at the TEC Centre in Evergreen Park. Hours are Saturday from 9-6 and Sunday from 10-5. P.A.C.E has a Women’s drop-in Support Group every Tuesday night at 10031-103 Ave, GP from 6:30-8:30pm. It’s a free service for women of any age or background who are going through stress and need confidential support. There is no cost to attend. For more information call 539-6692.
