Male suspect sought after assault on New Year's Day

Grande Prairie RCMP are investigating following an assault early on New Year's Day.
Police were called to the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital at 4:45 a.m. on January 1, 2017 after a 22-year-old man entered the hospital with injuries to his abdomen.
RCMP believe the injuries were caused by a laceration, but cannot confirm that.
A man allegedly approached the victim in the area of 98 Street and 94 Avenue, demanded his wallet and an altercation then took place. RCMP say the suspect in this case fled westbound on foot.
The male suspect is described as:
- Medium skin
- East coast accent
- Wearing a black hoodie/jacket and black pants
